This work explores the subject of perfectionism. In my work, I sometimes find it very difficult to let go of the small details, or not to be able to get the best out of them. Ironically, I also suffered from it while making this work. While a passerby walks by and likes it, I bite into one line that just doesn’t look right. I thought this was a nice subject for my work in STRAAT. In such a well-known museum you want to make something good, no, perfect, but what? When is it good enough? To communicate this message with the audience I painted a self-portrait in which I am obsessively writing ideas. Fun fact: the pages I used for reference I also used sincerely while brainstorming.
